HSE management in Limerick has been heavily criticised by the parents of a new-born baby girl who died just minutes after being born at the then Mid Western Regional Maternity Hospital in Limerick in 2009.

A jury at an inquest into the death of Caoimhe Mulcair, who was the first child of John and Joan Mulcair from Westbury, has returned a verdict of medical misadventure.

The UL Hospitals Group has apologised to the family, but this only came in recent days.

Afterwards, John said it was a sad day, but one that marked the end of six-and-a-half years of suffering.
