A North Clare business owner says the cost of calorie counting on menus far outweighs the benefits.

New legislation will see food outlets across the country having to display calorie counts on their menus in an effort to encourage people to eat a more balanced diet.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland says the move will cost the industry €110 million and thousands of jobs.

Aidan Mc Grath of the Wild Honey Inn in Lisdoonvarna believes educating people on the effects of certain food would have far greater benefits.
