An emergency meeting is taking place in Kilrush tonight following the closure of five West Clare Early Years Centres over the weekend.
Up to four hundred families in the Kilrush, Kilkee, Lissycasey, Kilmihil and Kildysart areas are without childcare facilities this morning and 53 jobs have been lost.
Workers were informed by text on Saturday and a meeting was held with staff yesterday afternoon following the decision by the Board of Directors to liquidate the business.
Co-ordinator of the West Clare Family Resource Centre, Mary O’Donoghue says questions need to be answered as to how the situation was allowed to happen.
