Clare Doctor Says Mental Health Services Are Vital

A Spanish Point Doctor insists that mental health services must form a major part of the Government's health plan.

Figures from the HSE show 13,000 people presented at Emergency Departments last year in need of hospital treatment for serious mental health issues, with 66% of those requiring readmission within 12 months.

The College of Psychiatrists has now written to Health Minister Simon Harris, seeking an assurance that his proposed ten year plan for the health service doesn't further impede the implementation of the "Vision For Change" document.
