Clare Councillors are calling for local roads, damaged by forestry equipment, to be paid for by timber contractors.
There is over 110 thousand acres of forestry in Co. Clare alone – over 13 % of the county’s landmass – and at this months meeting of clare county council – members expressed the need for funding to repair rural roads damaged by forestry traffic.

Clare County Council is in talks with Coillte, the largest forestry contractor in the county, about allocating funds however a number of smaller companies and private contractors are also operating in the county.
