Chair Of Clare Housing Committee Concerned Over New Letting System

The Chairman of the local authority's housing committee has expressed concern that a new choice-based letting system will discriminate against those in the county who don't have access to broadband.

As part of new Government plan a system, which would see those on the social housing list expressing an interest in available homes in the county through a dedicated website, will now be rolled out to all local authorities.

It's part of efforts to reduce the rate of refusal of social housing by prospective tenants.

But Councillor Gerry Flynn fears that that lack of suitable broadband in this county may render the system ineffective for many and he insists that supply remains the biggest stumbling block here.
