Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Gerard Freyne in Limerick.
The 51 year old was assaulted at Lord Edward Street in the city at a quarter to eight on Wednesday evening.
He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries yesterday morning.
Gardaí arrested a 32 year old man in Limerick this morning in connection with the death.
He's being detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
