New figures show consumer prices fell last month – with a drop in the price of motor cars, a fall in air fares and cheaper petrol and diesel.

The Central Statistics Office say prices were 0.3% lower in October compared with the same month last year.

There was also a fall in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices across a range of products including meat, milk, cheese, eggs, and bread.

However last month saw a rise in education and health costs.
