Clare County Council is confident that it has sufficient stocks of salt to treat roads in the county over the winter months.
The Local Authority currently has over 2,000 tonnes of salt in stock, to combat icy conditions on over 700 kilometres of road across Clare, which the council is responsible for.
Cold winter conditions of recent years have compelled the Roads Department to up its supply, while for the second year running, brine will also be used to treat some routes.
Senior Engineer Tom Tiernan says there's also been an improvement in equipment and facilities in recent years.
