Surgeon gives evidence at medical Inquiry

The surgeon facing 11 allegations in relation to the care of an Ennis mother of 13 has begun to give evidence at a Medical Council inquiry into his fitness to practice.

Dr Syed Naqvi  is accused of multiple failures in the treatment of Tina Sherlock , who died after three operations- just five motnhs after losing her unborn child in 2008.

The consultant has been outling the three proceedures he carried on Mrs Sherlock -and defended his decision not to send her to Limerick Regional after the second operation.

He also told the inquiry that Clare’s County Hospital had no CT scan and not enough consultants
