On The Afternoon Show today Máire Moynahan spoke to Brian Farrell from the Road Safety Authority about the correct way to behave when sharing the road with emergency service vehicles.  It comes as a new booklet is launched to advise motorists on just that, and aims to tell the public about what to do if they see emergency service vehicles on the road – and if they see them dealing with an incident.  For more details and to get a copy of the booklet please visit www.rsa.ie

Micheál O’ Riordan is a participant of Wave Change. Wave Change is a 10 month social change & innovation programme that connects, supports and invests in 18-25 year olds from across Ireland who think that Ireland needs to change and have experience of taking action on their passion. Cormac McCarthy of the Burren Chernobyl Project also joined the show to discuss how the group is looking at innovative ways to gather funds for its projects in Belarus.  This year they will be launching an online shop where people can purchase Christmas gifts such as bespoke BCP T-Shirts, books by Br. Liam O’Meara, crafts made in Belarus – they’re also very excited about their new Donation Card. They can bought in the office in Ennistymon our purchased through the shop which accepts secure PayPal payments and postage of these cards are free of charge and guaranteed to arrive before the Christmas!

Clare FM’s Doireann Wilde was also out and about the county. She was asking people how they feel about giving to charity at Christmas – who they support and why it’s so important to do so at this time of year.

Gina O’Dwyer is a member of the Parents Council at St. Munchin’s College in Corbally. The school and students are holding a Christmas fair on Sunday 9th December between 11am and 3pm in aid of the school development fund. Half of the student population come from Clare.  The re-development, which started last year, is due for completion in March 2014.  This is the first time that the college has received state capital funding in over 200 years.  The new developments will allow further innovation in literacy, maths, science, art and language education. All funds raised on the day will go to kitting out new building and stocking science and language labs.
