On today’s show Máire spoke to Anne McNamara, a Concern Aid worker in The Lebanon. The Mountshannon native talked about how the number of people affected by violence in Syria is rising daily. Many are in urgent need of food, water and shelter. It’s snowing in Syria and Lebanon – and the human impact of that is huge in an already difficult situation. Anne is involved in working with refugees there. For more information or to make a donation to Concern please visit www.concern.net

Paul Kilkenny from the East Clare Harriers also joined the show ahead of the annual East Clare Harriers Walk in aid of Meningitis research, which takes place this Saturday – December 28th.  The walk begins from outside Teach Ui Bhriain in Tuamgraney at 12.30 with registration before hand.

Archie Simpson, Martin Myler, Ben Escorcio, Katie O’Donoghue and Ailbhe Howard are members of the Lismorahaun Singers – a unique choir based in North Clare. They are a non-auditioned choir of amateur singers who like to take on challenging works and to share the joy of singing with their community. They were in studio and sang some Christmas favourites.  Archie also talked about Naomi O’Connell – the Clare born mezzo-soprano is a former student of Archie’s. Naomi, a documentary chronicling her musical career will be broadcast on Clare FM on St. Stephen’s Night at 9pm

Pathways of Life is a film made by a group of young people through the Clare Youth Service. They made it in response to a survey that was carried out in relation to how many young people could identify the services that were available to them in relation to mental health and well being. The shockingly low numbers the survey revealed inspired the group to make the film. Clare FM’s Denise Woods went to chat with the filmmakers, Michael Flaherty and Zena Moloney and Jean Tierney, Youth Work Manager with Clare Youth Service, based at The Junction in Cloughleigh, Ennis
