On Friday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Sixmilebridge Independent Councillor PJ Ryan whose business premises PJ Ryan Oil of Sixmilebridge  was burgled on Wednesday night

PJ said he believes his establishment was targetted by a group responsible for a number of robberies in the region on the same night

The crime happened between 10 and 11 pm when 2 suspects entred the premsis by smashing a window while another waited in a get away vehicle

The business was ransacked with some Cash and cheques stolen.

Pat Killeen of Ballynacally called to share his story of a recent experience in the A&E in Dooradoyle this week

His 11 year old son had an accident on Monday and was concussed so he was rushed by ambulance to A&E 

Pat said it was so congested that they had to physically more trollies out of the way walking around but he added that the staff were incredible and doing an amazing job. 

 

Some schools are being forced to fundraise for infrastructural works 

Connolly National School Principal Michael Quealy spoke with John – they have to replace guttering around the school and can get no funding from government 

Members of the public are being asked to donate Books, DVDs and CDs to Connolly National School ahead of a fundraising Spring Sale at the school on April 5th 

Money raised during the event will go towards the cost of carrying out improvement works to the school building during the summer.

 

Clare Senior Hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald is to be honoured as Clare Person of the Year at a special event in Dublin’s Clyde Court on Saturday event at 7.30pm

Inagh native Liam O’Looney is Chairman of the Clare Association in Dublin who are holding the awards

Liam spoke with John about why Davy was the committees choice

Sixmilebridge Parish Priest Fr Harry Bohan is receiving the Clare Association’s Hall of Fame Award at the event

Liam explained that Fr Harry was picked because of his exceptional foresight and work over the years  – Fr Harry also spoke with John.

Their annual fundraising walk/ run is taking place this Sunday at 12 noon beginning in Kilkee

The community in Lahinch are holding a fundraising event for Lahinch Playground that was devastated by the storm Christine 

It’s a Christmas frolics event tomorrow and all are welcome as Roisin Garvey explained.  

 

Some of Clare’s finest musicians have come together to record a single to help raise money for the Lahinch Playground Rescue Fund

The playground was completed just three years ago but recently devastated by Storm Catherine- it’s estimated the damage is well in excess of €100,000

The song, ‘Seaweed in Ennistymon’ was written by local musician Darragh MacGlynn

Daragh will be joined by Luka Bloom and a host of other musicians to perform the song at the Lahinch Christmas Frolics which will take place at Lahinch Seaworld this Saturday evening

Daragh joined John in studio along with Adam Shapiro, Fiddle player, Mike O’Connor on the keyboard, Josie O’Connor on the fiddle and Tessa O’Connor on the mandolin to perform the song.
