Today Máire Moynahan spoke with Joe O’Connor, President of the Union of Students in Ireland about how graduates, in particular graduate nurses are emigrating in increasing numbers.  Graduate Nurses say they're being forced to emigrate for better pay conditions. The group says their current starting salary of 22-thousand euro is significantly lower than pay for entry level positions in countries like Canada, where a nurse could expect around 43-thousand. They launched the ‘Everyone Loves Nurses’ campaign outside Leinster House this morning. They say if the rate isn’t increased, they’ll have to leave the country. The Union of Students in Ireland is supporting the campaign.

Emma Stewart-Liberty is a Ballyvaughan Artist and spoke to the show as a new show called “Emerge” has been launched in Culturlann Sweeney in Kilkee. The exhibition is featuring the work of local artists Emma, Nathalie El Baba from Scariff, Phyllis Haran from Ennistymon and Elaine Quinlan. It runs until the end of February (28th). There’s an opening reception on this Saturday 8th Feb from 12 – 1.30pm. All welcome. This exhibition has been kindly assisted by the Clare Arts Office.
