Maria Molloy from Ennis & District Lion’s Club joined Clare Fm’s Máire Moyanahn in studio this afternoon. On Tuesday next – April 15th a very important programme will be delivered to an audience at the Templegate Hotel in Ennis. Ennis Lions Club and the HSE bring the SafeTALK programme to Clare – the 4 hour talk is aimed at increasing people’s ability to promote safety of persons who may be at risk of suicide and provide links to further help. SafeTALK aims to improve alertness – rather than awareness. The deadline for registering is this Friday April 11th – Please call 085 8735770 to sign up.

Simon Dagg, the Organiser of the Lough Derg Cycle joined us to talk about the second annual cycle, which starts and finishes in Portumna. It travels through east Clare, Killaloe, Tuamgraney and Scariff.  Funds raised from the event will aid St Dympnas’s in Portumna where they hope to put the monies towards the hydrotherapy pool. St Dympna’s caters for service users in Clare, Galway and Tipperary. It takes place May 4th – check out loughdergcycle.com and their facebook page.

Aineis Brock, the Director of Fundraising at Carrigoran Nursing Home also spoek to Máire about the annual Spring Fair, which kicks off at Carrigoran on Sunday next – April 13th. It promises to be a fun family day out – with music, stalls, competitions, pet dog show and bonny baby – the event has been running now for 7 years and keeps growing and growing.
