On Fridays Morning Focus John began by speaking to Clare Hurler, Shane O'Donnell.  As the Leaving Cert comes to an end and ahead of the CAO Change of Mind of July Ist, Clare Hurling Star and All Ireland Hat Trick Hero Shane O'Donnell is encouraging students to consider Sciene and Maths subjects in college as part of the Scine Foundation of Ireland's Smart Futures Initiative.  The Ennis man is studying genetics in UCC and is an ambassador for the government-Industry Initiative providing access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths careers information.  As the Clare Hurlers await news of who they'll face in the All Ireland Qualifiers, Shane spoke to John about Smart Futures.

Up next John spoke to more areas across the county to see if the good weather has seen a boost in business Linda Herman, Volunteer at the new tourist information point and exhibition centre in Mountshannon told John that there is a great buzz around Mountshannon with the fine weather. The harbour is looking great and people are starting to trickle into the centre.  The centre has just opened at they are also selling souvenirs!! David Quinn of L'Arco Italian Restaurant Ballyvaughan also had a word with John.  It was a rough start to the year for many businesses in Clare that were affected by the storms.  However with this good weather the restaurant is up for the first 4 months of this year compared to last year!

John Murphy, wildlife expert and Chairperson of the Clare branch of Birdwatch Ireland joined John and Morning Focus Producer Amy Ryan in studio as he brought in a false black widow spider.  We have heard so much about this spider over the last few months we decided it was time to meet one!!
