The cabinet has approved proposals which will see calories being printed on menus. The law will require restaurants, take-aways and all food service outlets to post the information alongside the price for all items offered on their menus.The move has been approved amid concern at out high levels of obesity. But Restaurants say its a bad idea and will add to their cost base. Colette Mc Mahon. Nutritional Therapist with True Food Academy joined us in studio and we also heard from Aidan McGrath, Owner and Chef  at The Wild Honey Inn, Lisdoonvarna and member of Restaurants Association of Ireland about these changes. 

 

Are you a residential property owner? Clare County Council are looking to lease or buy houses to meet the demand for social housing. The Tánaiste says it's now up to county councils to make sure there's enough housing to stop people from becoming homeless. Joan Burton says the government's providing money to build new housing units – but councils need to make their own plans.The government announced 2.2 billion euro in the Budget to go towards new programmes for local authority housing. Leonard Cleary, Senior Executive Officer, Housing Services Department, Clare County Council joined John in studio to explain the current situation. Are you a residential property owner? The former Bishop of Killaloe will be installed as the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly on Sunday .
Archbishop Kieran O'Reilly will be confirmed as the replacement to Archbishop Dermot Clifford in an event which takes place at the Cathedral of The Assumption in Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Kieran O'Reilly was appointed as Bishop of Killaloe by Pope Benedict the Sixteenth in May of 2010. As he departs his Ennis base and prepares for his installation this weekend he spoke to Clare FM's Aisling O'Rourke.
   

On our Morning Focus Friday Panel we were joined by Former President of Teacher’s Union Bernie Ruane, Niamh O Brien "Clare Says No to Water Charges" Group and  Dermot Hayes Ennis based community Activist. The panel discussed the Irish Water deadline, inclusion of calorie content on menus, the ban of the sale of cheap alcohol and the Bill to regulate E Cigarettes. 

    
“Hats off to Clare” 
One man show performed by Lisdoonvarna native Gerry Howard. Written and Directed by Paul Brennan – this comedic and surreal play is set aboard the famous West Clare Railway where some of County Clare’s most famous characters meet for the first time, each distinguished by their head gear.
