On Friday's edition of Morning Focus with Marian Egan

Residents in Kilkee are hoping that a permanent solution to the issues regarding diving boards at Newfoundout will be resolved by next summer. There will be no boards in place for this year's tourist season, after their manufacturer declined to approve them as being 'fit for purpose' at the proposed location. As a result, the Council cannot accept liability for the boards, a decision which Kilkee Chamber says it understands. Local businessman Cillian Muphy of Kilkee Chamber of Commerce and Ger Casey organiser of the annual Pat Lawlor Memorial Diving competition, which was due to be held at Newfoundout next weekend but now won't be going ahead, shared their disappointment with Marian.

Local man Manuel Di Lucia also joined the conversation saying that there has been a number of issues with the boards prior to this summer and what a huge loss to the local economy the absence of the boards will be this summer.

A high profile British boxing promoter, who has undergone gender re-assignment, says she is now going to look for love in Lisdoonvarna. Formerly known as Frank, 61-year-old Kellie Maloney has said that she wants to travel to the world famous matchmaking festival at the end of September. She has also said that she hopes to attend the LGBT event, The Outing, in early October. She says she has already had a phone conversation with famous matchmaker Willie Daly, although she did not reveal her true identity. She shared her story with Marian this morning. You can read more of Kellie's story in her autobiography Frankly Kellie
