Fresh fodder set for Clare farmers

Around 50 trucks filled with fodder for Irish farmers will arrive in Rosslare from France later and it’s set to be distributed across several counties including Clare.

Meanwhile The Taoiseach says the OPW is carrying out a review to see if state assets can follow the example of Shannon Airport in being used to help farmers through the fodder crisis.

It follows a question in the Dáil from Clare’s Labour TD Michael McNamara, who has suggested that the Thornton Hall site in Co. Dublin is among those which could be harvested for the benefit of Irish farmers.

Enda Kenny says the OPW is carrying out a full audit of all land banks and properties owned by the State.
