A Doonbeg resident believes revised proposals for coastal defences at the Trump International Hotel and Golf Resort will prove effective. 

A Doonbeg resident believes revised proposals for coastal defences at the Trump International Hotel and Golf Resort will prove effective. 

Plans for a controversial 10 million euro projection barrier have been scrapped and a new application is now to be lodged. 

This will propose to install two separate sections of rock armour, totalling 850m in length, while metal sheet piles would be inserted into the ground.

Local farmer John Flanagan is happy with the new plans, but is hitting out at those who opposed initial proposal to build a 2.8 kilometre bern along Doughmore Beach.
