The provision of six additional beds at Ennis General Hospital to help relieve the overcrowding crisis has been criticised by the Chair of the HSE's Regional Health Forum West.

The UL Hospitals Group has announced an additional 27 beds in Ennis, Nenagh and St John's as part of effort to ease pressure on the ED in Limerick.

As a result, endoscope procedures have been suspended though emergency procedures will still take place.

Kilmaley Councillor Tom MacNamara has welcome but he believes long term measures are needed.
