Students from throughout Clare have been named as some of the winners at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

Students from throughout Clare have been named as some of the winners at this year's BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

Dylan Egan of Mary Immaculate School in Lisdoonvarna, who explored whether rushes could be used as a fuel, took first place in the Junior Individual Category and also the Fr. Tom Burke bursary.

His schoolmate Jessica Kelly was another individual winner, while Danny Hynes, Aaron O'Brien and Ciaran Hickey of Scariff Community College, who explored the science behind the hurley, took second in the Senior Group category.

There were also school awards for other project from St. Flannan's College in Ennis, Mary Immaculate School in Lisdoonvarna and St. Joseph's Secondary School in Spanish Point.
