Clare joint hurling boss Gerry O’Connor feels the outcome of Sunday’s Munster Semi Final will define the work the squad have done so far in 2017.

O’Connor and Donal Moloney will take charge of their native county for the first time at senior level having already guided the Banner to success at minor and U21 level.

The league campaign saw Clare contest the relegation playoff before overcoming Dublin to maintain their status in the top tier next season.

O’Connor says the real goal for the year will be victory in the championship, starting with Sunday’s clash against Limerick

Meanwhile one of Clare’s key men feels the squad are in a positive mindset ahead of the championship.

Ballyea’s Tony Kelly was part of the squad that won the All Ireland title in 2013 while he also played a huge role in Clare’s U21 success, captain the team to All Ireland glory in 2014.

The former All Star says there’s a freshness about the camp as they look forward to a tough battle

They’ll start in Thurles on Sunday at 4pm
