A North Clare water supply has been removed from the EPA’s remedial action list after upgrade works at the local treatment plant.

The Carron Water Supply, which serves around 60 people around the village near Lisdoonvarna, had been on the EPA’s radar for inadequate treatment of the parasite cryptosporidium.

It means there are now only five systems in Clare currently on the EPA list where quality is threatened – they are Turlough, Kilkeedy, Corofin Ennistymon and West Clare.

Irish Water’s Operations Lead in Clare Duane O’Brien is confident that by next year, all of Clare’s water supplies will be up to standard.
