Clare County Council is being urged to request more power from central government to deal with illegal traveller encampments.

Concern has been raised on a number of occasions about these encampments, particularly around the Ennis area.

The health and safety of those living in them, as well as sanitation, noise and environmental pollution and trespassing, have all been highlighted as areas of concern.

Fianna Fáil’s Clare Colleran Molloy says it’s not something she wanted to raise but feels it’s vital to address.
