The government is being urged to up its efforts in securing major employers for Clare, with confirmation that no buyers have expressed interest in the Roche plant in Clarecastle.
Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphries has confirmed the news, with the clock ticking on the factory officially closing in mid-2020.
The Swiss pharma company announced its decision to pull out of Clare in 2015 and it had been hoped another major employer would move in, in its place.
But Clare’s Independent TD Dr Michael Harty says this is all but ruled out now, so it’s time to up the ante:
