Clare County Council is urging people to dispose of recyclable waste and glass bottles properly this week.
From Christmas to New Year’s Day, there is a 30% increase in waste in the average household, with wrappings and empty bottles accounting for the bulk of it.
With 49 bottle banks in operation in Clare, people can dispose of their glass waste free of charge from almost anywhere in the county.
Clare’s Environmental Awareness Officer Karen Foley has this advice for those visiting the banks over the Christmas period:
