16% Drop In Numbers Looking To Build In Clare

There’s been a 16% drop in the number of planning applications submitted to Clare County Council in the first six months of this year.

584 applications were made to the local authority so far this year, compared to 686 during the same period last year.

There were 102 more people looking to build in Clare in the first half of 2021, in comparison to the first six months of 2022.

The 584 applications submitted so far this year is a 16% drop on last year.

The numbers looking for permission for works last month were nearly 30% lower than the previous June.

143 applications were sent into the council last June, but only 106 were submitted this year.

The local authority is also slower at processing planning permissions this year, with a marginal decrease of 3% in the number of decisions made in the first six months of this year.

The number of complaints in relation to planning permission enforcement has dropped significantly this year however.

There were 75% fewer complaints so far this year, compared to the same period last year.

Despite this, there was a 40% jump in the number of warning letters issued to those in breech of planning enforcement laws in the county.
