There were 68 people found to be availing of emergency accommodation in Clare in October, the same figure as the previous month.

16 families were found to be homeless in this county as 295 points of contact were made with the Homeless Action team, 27 of these being new presentations.

In the Midwest, 528 people were registered as homeless last month, a drop of twenty people compared to September.

This includes 80 families with 122 children in emergency accommodation in hotels, B&Bs or hostels in the Midwest.

These figures are in stark contrast to the national figures where a record 13,179 people are registered as homeless, the first time that the state surpassed 13,000.

30% of those availing of emergency accommodation were children, with 3,991 adolescents homeless last month.

Over 61% of the adults recorded were male and over 56% were Irish citizens.
