The construction of the Killaloe bypass bridge has taken a further step forward after the project was put out to tender.
The Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has signed off on the move, with the works now on track to begin early next year.
Construction is set to take around two and a half to three years, with completion expected in late 2024 or early 2025.
Killaloe area Fine Gael Councillor, Pat Burke says it will be a vital piece of infrastructure for those living in East Clare who are working further afield.
The Labour Leader says this project will change the landscape of the wider locality and help socially, economically and drive tourism.
Alan Kelly believes “it’s absolutely great news for the impending development of the new Ballina/Killaloe bridge that the Minister for Transport has signed off on the tender to go out for its construction.
This is a massive step in the project and one I’ve worked on and fought for for many years. I initially put this project on the Government’s capital plan in 2015”, he concluded.
