A former Clare senior hurling captain is calling for future planning in the county to begin immediately following the minors’ heavy loss to Cork last night.

The Rebels had 40 points to spare over the Banner at Semple Stadium in Thurles in their Munster quarter final, with Clare registering just a single point in the second half.

It brings Terence Chaplin’s young side’s short year to an end, with the minor championship being played on a straight knockout basis this year.

Speaking after the game, Feakle club man Tommy Guilfoyle says those responsibile for running Clare hurling need to begin putting plans in place for intercounty players of the future.
