The number of cars licensed for the first time in Clare so far this year has surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
New CSO data shows 282 cars were registered here up to the end of last month, compared to 270 in the same timeframe in 2019.
It’s a jump of more than 40 percent of the 200 cars registered up to July of 2020, which was a drop that can be largely attributed to the onset of the pandemic.
Nationally, 1,677 cars were licensed for the first time in July, with more than 9,000 registered so far this year.
