A West Clare psychologist believes younger people need to be made more aware of mental health supports that are available to them here.

It’s after new research showed the number of people reporting mental health issues quadrupled during the pandemic.

Nearly half of those surveyed in the See Change report said they would contemplate hiding such difficulties from their family and friends.

Spanish Point-based Dr John Hillery, a former President of the College Psychiatrists of Ireland, says early help for young people in particular is critical to recovery.
