A West Clare business man insists that hoteliers have been put in a difficult position, following the latest guidelines for the sector.

The Department of Tourism has confirmed hotel bars will have to close from midnight tonight, despite being earlier told there would be an exemption from new closing hours for hotel bars.

Bars in hotels, including residence bars, will have to shut, with everyone off the premises from midnight.

The rules will also apply to weddings held in those venues.

Owner of the Armada Hotel in Spanish Point, John Burke, says it will be difficult to manage.
