Clare County Council has confirmed this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Ennis will go ahead.

It’s the first time since 2019 the event will proceed having been shelved in the last two years due to pandemic restrictions.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Coming Together’, which the local authority says will celebrate Irish heritage and local communities throughout the county.

Mayor of Clare, Councillor PJ Ryan, says many other events will go ahead across the county in March.

Statement from Clare County Council

‘Clare County Council, with the assistance of other agencies, is organising the 2022 St Patrick’s Day parade in Ennis, in accordance with the public health guidelines at that time. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Coming Together’ a celebration of our Irish heritage and social networks especially our communities. Community groups and their activities have carried us through a difficult period. We look forward to an increase in participation this year from groups and individuals from home and abroad.

Full details and maps will be circulated in advance of the parade.’
