The Minister for Health says he won’t rule out an independent review into the situation at the region’s main hospital, but believes the answers to the problems there lie locally.

Minister Stephen Donnelly visited University Hospital Limerick and met with senior management yesterday amid continued record overcrowding at the facility since the beginning of the year.

A number of Clare’s Oireachtas members had called for a review by HIQA or another body to investigate what specific issues were causing such high trolley numbers.

Speaking in Limerick, Minister Donnelly is confident that current staff members know what needs to be done.
