A Clare Government TD insists the Environment Minister cannot keep ‘dictating’ to elected representatives and members of the public on the burning of solid fuels.
Members of the Fine Gael and Fianna Fail parliamentary parties met with Minister Eamon Ryan yesterday on plans to ban selling turf in commercial settings from September.
Sinn Féin last night tabled a motion calling on the government to scrap the plans, which will exempt communities of under 500 people.
Clarecastle-based Fine Gael Deputy Joe Carey says there will be another meeting with Minister Ryan on the matter at a later date.
