Calls are being made for a temporary speed limit to be put in place on a local road in Kilbricken where a farmer has been struck twice by passing cars.

The narrow link road serves to join the Quin Road to the N85 dual carriageway and is used by passing traffic to bypass Ennis town traffic.

The road currently has a speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour, but following calls from Clarecastle Councillor Paul Murphy, Ennis Municipal District will raise the request for a temporary 50 kilometre limit with the Transportation Section of the Council.

Councillor Murphy says the road now poses a health and safety risk.
