A North Clare lifeguard is calling for signs to be erected at Doughmore beach redirecting swimmers to suitable bathing locations.
Last week’s heatwave saw a woman airlifted to hospital after being rescued from the West Clare beach after she and another man got into difficulty.
Despite no swim notices in place at the beach, many still entered the water there during the hot spell.
Lahinch Green Party Councillor, Liam Grant, says signage should be in place directing people to Whitestrand instead.
