Clare’s Chief Fire Officer says tough decisions will have to be made, if violence against firefighters in Ennis continues.

It follows an incident in Cloughleigh on Saturday night, during which rocks and other missiles were thrown at fire crews, who were called to deal with a small rubbish fire lit by youths in the area.

It’s the twelfth time the fire service has been called to such an incident in the area over the past fortnight.

Chief Fire Officer, Adrian Kelly says they’re now reviewing procedures in the interest of the safety of personnel and he’s urging parents to speak to their children about the recent anti-social behaviour.
