Shannon Town’s to hold an event to mark Word Wetlands Day later this week.
The Shannon Wetland Restoration Project is a community initiative undertaken by a number of stakeholders in the area, with the project set to be completed in the next number of years.
The group in conjunction with the Local Authority Waters Programme is to host an event tomorrow at 12.30pm to celebrate the day, with a focus on restoration, local biodiversity and the role healthy wetlands play.
Olive Carey of the Shannon Town Community Wetlands Project says the initiative has brought the whole locality together.
