Clare Mother And Baby Home Survivor Says Six Month Rule For Redress Is An ‘Insult’

A Clare Mother and Baby Home survivor has described the six-month time limit in the planned redress scheme as ‘insulting’.

The Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme Bill 2022 is due to be voted upon by the Dáil this evening and stipulates that children born in an institution will only qualify if they spent more than six months there.

Adoptee from Cree Anthony Morrissey is among those in limbo as to whether he will qualify for redress.

 

He’s been told he’s days short of the six-month threshold, but discrepancies in his records say otherwise.
