The number of people waiting for a bed at the region’s main hospital today is among the highest ever recorded.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is reporting 109 patients were on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds.
There have only been four occasions since records began when this number has been higher, all of which were recorded in 2022.
It comes on a day when 655 people are waiting for beds in hospitals across the country.
