There has been an almost 140% annual increase in the number of property upgrades in Clare.

The Sustainable Energy Authority has released its National Retrofit Plan quarterly progress report today, which shows that, overall, there were more than 27,000 nationwide property upgrades completed last year.

The SEAI’s latest quarterly report shows a considerable increase in the number of property upgrades in Clare in the space of a year.

There were 609 in the banner in 2022, up from 254 in 2021 and 243 in 2020.

They’re among 27,199 completed across the country last year, with that figure representing an almost 80 percent jump on the previous year.

4,438 of the upgrades nationally were fully funded for low-income households.

Roof and cavity wall insulation measures, which are the simplest thing you can do to maintain heat in your home, grew by 107 percent between 2021 and 2022.

The Government aims to retrofit half a million homes to a BER rate of B2 and install 400-thousand heat pumps in existing homes by 2030.

Environment Minister Eamon Ryan says momentum in retrofit is building and that these energy upgrades are a crucial support for low-income households during this period of high energy bills.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland processed more than 50-thousand grant applications across all schemes last year, up 140 percent on 2021.
