Ennis will take to the global stage this weekend in its bid to be named one of the tidiest urban centres in the world.

A judging panel for the Communities in Bloom competition will visit the county town between Sunday and Tuesday, where they will assess criteria such as public realm design, environmental initiatives, tree management and floral displays.

Ennis has been entered in the medium category, after being named Ireland’s tidiest town in 2021, and will face off against Alberta, Canada, and Monfalcone, Italy.

Chairperson of Ennis Tidy Towns Cormac McCarthy believes the international recognition will have major economic and tourism benefits.
