East Clare Restauranteur Calls For Urgent Sectoral Supports Ahead Of 13.5% Hospitality VAT Rate

An East Clare Restauranteur claims businesses throughout the county are in need of urgent supports to remain viable.

It comes as Minister For Finance, Michael McGrath signalled this week that the higher hospitality VAT rate of 13.5% will be reinstated as planned from August 1st.

The Low Pay Commission, meanwhile is strongly tipped to recommend the increase of the national minimum wage to €12.70 per hour from January.

Garry Pepper from Pepper’s Bar and Restaurant in Feakle says the government need to recognise the undue hardships facing tourist dependent businesses.
