The number of people registered as homeless in Clare and Limerick rose by 8% in the twelve months leading up to June.
The latest figures from the Department of Housing show that over 400 people were homeless in the Midwest last month.
The latest monthly report from the Department of Housing shows that 405 adults were recorded as homeless across Clare and Limerick in June.
The overall figure marks an increase of more than 8% from the 373 availing of emergency accommodation in the Midwest at the same juncture of 2022.
Over 60% of those recorded homeless locally were male, while just over 27% were children.
Around 4 in 5 were classed as Irish, 12% were from the UK or the European Economic Area, while the remaining 32 people were from outside the continent.
In total of 61 adults were recorded as homeless in Clare during the month.
While nationally, a record high of 12,600 people were registered as homeless in Ireland in June.
Of these, 3,765 are children – the highest amount recorded as homeless on record.
