Clare County Council received 25 air pollution complaints in 2022.
Figures obtained by Clare FM show that the local authority undertook 52 inspections under the Solid Fuels Regulation Act last year.
Although an inspection took place once a week on average no prosecutions were made resulting from breaches of smoky coal regulations.
This is despite Ennis regularly exceeding the World Health Organisations long term air quality levels over the last twelve months, with air pollution in Clare linked to 47 premature deaths in the same timeframe.
