The first ever ground Investigation works at Abbey Street Carpark will get underway in the coming days.

It comes as Clare County Council has obtained an archaelogical license to conduct test excavations at the site.

The works will begin next Monday and take place in stages to minimise traffic disruption, with the overall goal of informing the design process ahead of the proposed redevelopment of the car park under the Ennis 2040 plan.

Chief Operating Office of Ennis 2040, Kevin Corrigan says the works will offer a vital window into the county’s past.
