Clare’s county town has been crowned the winner of a prestigious international competition.
Having been nominated as Ireland’s entry into Communities in Bloom for 2023, Ennis picked up ‘5 Blooms’ and the title of overall winner in the ‘International Challenge Medium’ category, as well as a special mention in the ‘Pollinator Friendly Gardens’ category of the competition.
The success follows a visit from the competition’s judges to the town over the summer who evaluated the town under the criteria of community appearance, environmental action, heritage conservation, tree management, landscape, and plant and floral displays.
Other countries that nominated entrants to this year’s competition include Canada, USA, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia.
